The Livingstone Film Company has signed Benjamin A. van der Veen to write the screenplay for “Livingstone-An African Legend,” a major motion picture about Dr. David Livingstone, to be filmed in Zambia in 2010.
Known for spreading Christianity, fighting slavery, and exploring uncharted territory in Central Africa during the mid 1800’s, David Livingstone is often considered to be the greatest missionary who ever walked across Africa.
Benjamin A. van der Veen recently completed the screenplay for the feature film, “Che” directed by Steven Soderberg that is currently in release. He just returned from scouting locations in Africa where he toured the site near Chitambo’s Village where Livingstone’s heart is buried, as well as Victoria Falls, the famous falls discovered by Livingstone in 1853.
Here Ben stands next to the present Chief Chitambo, the great, great, great Grandson of the original Chief Chitambo, in whose village Livingstone died.
